Chillipadi

I went with my colleague to this South-East Asian restaurant for lunch today... have been looking forward to this restaurant for weeks! It is located in the ground floor small lane of Melbourne Central (corner Lt Lonsdale and Elizabeth Streets). The food was ok, it was the atmosphere that gave it the edge... It is nice and simple with dark wooden cupboards, chairs and tables, lots of steel and lots of seats. The a la cart menu was set out like a cookbook - lots of pictures and strong white paper.

The $15 lunch special was reasonable - a glass of house red / white, with a choice of gyoza or mixed finger food bowl as an entree, and a selection of "hawker" style main dishes. I had the red, finger food and chicken laksa... only had half of the laksa because I was so full. The laksa had a lot of ingrediants.. but like the rest of the dishes - missing something... maybe a little sweetness... Service is fast and we were out of there in 30 minutes. Definitely go if you are in that area... if not... hmm.. have to think about it

Oh yes they also sell prepacked sauces such as satay, laksa etc..
