France-Soir ~ Bon Soir

This is one of our favourite restaurant in Melbourne. If you ever want to feel like you are enjoying french cuisine in a Parisian brasserie, this restaurant is definitely a must. The food is delicious and the service magnificant. The restaurant can get crowded, if you don't like this, then best to get there early.

Last night, M treated my family and I to a gourmet feast at France-Soir. This is what we had:

Entrees:
Coquilles St.Jacques au basilic - Sauteed scallops with basil sauce
Plat Du Jour - Seafood pieces in creamy caramel crab sauce
Tartare de thon rouge - Red tuna tartare
Soupe à l'oignon gratinée - French Onion Soup

Mains:
Steak frites, salade (200g) - Thin scotch fillet, french fries & green salad
Plat Du Jour - Grilled Whole Calamari with salad
Magret de canard, pommes sarladaise - Whole duck breast & sautéed potatoes
Boeuf bourguignon - Beef in red wine casserole

Sides:
Lots and lots of frites (french fries)
Delicious pains (bread) with pure creamy butter

We shared everything, eating off each other's plates... The service took a bit longer than expected but the food did not disappoint and again service was always there when you needed anything. We were too full for desserts as we were really looking forward to our creme brulee! OH well next time!

Highly recommended if you have never been! I said to M, if I lived nearby it would definitely be my second dining room!
